πΊοΈ Land you will run into
BLM land
The Grand Junction fact sheet applies to that field office; other Colorado offices may differ, so check yours. Public land is for recreational camping only and establishing residency is prohibited.
National forests
Each forest sets its own limits and has its own motor vehicle use map.
State land
We did not verify State Land Board camping rules, so confirm access before staying.
β Also plan around
- Waste: Do not dump garbage, sewage or household waste on public land.
- Fire: Keep fires attended and fully extinguish them.
Hazards: Altitude, afternoon storms, early snow and seasonal closures. BLM Colorado advises checking seasonal closures before planning. Check the National Weather Service for current forecasts.

Is Colorado's limit 14 days in 28 like other states?
Not necessarily. The Grand Junction office uses 14 days in any 30-day period and a 30 air-mile move. Check the office that manages your area.
