Storing your RV correctly preserves its condition and value. Before putting it away, clean it thoroughly, empty all tanks, disconnect the battery, inflate tires with UV-resistant covers, and seal all entry points against rodents. Ventilate to prevent mold and consider a quality cover for outdoor storage.
🧹 Clean Thoroughly
Wash the interior and exterior — including the roof — before storing. Food residue attracts pests and moisture causes mold. Leave cabinets open to improve air circulation.
🪣 Empty All Tanks
Drain and flush the black, gray, and fresh water tanks. Add RV antifreeze to the plumbing if storing in a freeze-risk climate. Leave taps slightly open.
🔋 Battery Care
Disconnect the battery or use a battery disconnect switch. Consider a trickle charger for long-term storage to keep the battery from draining completely.
🛞 Protect the Tires
Inflate tires to the recommended pressure and use UV-resistant tire covers. If storing long-term, move the RV occasionally to prevent flat spots from developing.
🐭 Seal Entry Points
Check for gaps around pipes, vents, and compartments. Use steel wool or expandable foam to seal openings. Place rodent repellents inside and check regularly.
🌬️ Ventilate
Leave roof vents cracked (with covers) to prevent moisture buildup. Consider a dehumidifier for long-term indoor storage to protect upholstery and woodwork.
