The short version

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation operates the public campgrounds in the Adirondacks and posts a season schedule for each. Most open May 15; Lake George Battleground, Fish Creek and Lewey Lake run to October 12, while Meadowbrook and others close September 7 or 13.

The DEC pages we read list trailer dump stations at Lake George Battleground and Meadowbrook but do not list hookups or maximum lengths. Nonresidents pay an extra $5 per night everywhere. Call the campground for rig details.

Best for

  • Lake and mountain camping in a state-run network
  • Travelers who want published dates and fees
  • Rigs that can camp without hookups

Think twice if

  • You plan to camp after October 12. Every 2026 season listed has ended
  • You need confirmed hookups. The pages we read didn’t list them
  • You expect the same price as residents. Nonresidents pay $5 more

Rig fit

  • Maximum lengths were not listed. Call the campground
