The Florida Keys

Island roads, coral reefs, and warm water all the way down to Key West.

The Overseas Highway strings 42 bridges across open water on its way from the mainland to Key West, and driving it in an RV is one of the more surreal stretches of American road — ocean on both sides, mile markers counting down instead of up. The Keys trade mountains and canyons for warm shallow water, coral reefs, and a slower, salt-air pace that's hard to find anywhere else. If you know of an RV-friendly stop near Florida Keys that isn't listed here, please submit it and we'll get it added to the directory.

Planning tip

Book well ahead — Keys campgrounds run near capacity all winter. Keep an eye on hurricane season (June–November); evacuation routes are limited to the single Overseas Highway, so most RVers plan Keys trips for the cooler, drier months instead.
