The beach at Orange Beach.
The short version
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are Alabama’s Gulf Coast beach towns, with white sand, fishing piers and plenty of RV parks. Gulf State Park, between the two, is the anchor for RVers: its campground lists 496 improved campsites and a newly built RV Resort with 104 full-hookup sites, plus more than 600 upgraded RV and tent sites overall and eight primitive sites.
The campground has 11 modern bathhouses, paved pads with picnic tables and grills, and pools and playgrounds shared between the two camping areas. It is 1.5 miles from the beach by visitor reports, and the RV Resort has direct access to the park’s Backcountry Trail for biking and birding.
Winter is long-stay season. Monthly camping is offered from November through March through an application process, and visitors report February as the peak snowbird month. Book months ahead for any peak period.
