Zion National Park, Utah

Half-mile-deep sandstone canyon walls, river hikes, and one of the most visited parks in the country.

Zion Canyon is a half-mile-deep slot cut through pale and rose-colored sandstone by the Virgin River, with cliff walls that rise almost straight up on either side of the road. It's one of the most visited parks in the country for good reason: you don't need a long hike to feel small here — the canyon does that from the parking lot. In peak season, a free shuttle carries visitors up the canyon, since the scenic drive itself is closed to private vehicles. If you know of an RV-friendly stop near Zion National Park that isn't listed here, please submit it and we'll get it added to the directory.

Planning tip

Vehicles over 11 ft 4 in wide or tall pay an escort fee and travel one-way through the Zion–Mt. Carmel Tunnel, since most RVs can't fit two-way traffic inside it. Check your rig's dimensions before planning that route.
